The device allows the patient to perform active, active-assisted, and passive flexion and extension of the knee from a long sit position. The foot is placed in a supportive boot that stabilizes the lower leg and ankle and avoids unwanted valgus/varus or rotational stress at the knee.
The patient can actively flex the knee along the tracking guides or use supportive straps attached to the side of the boot to perform active-assisted or passive knee flexion. Resisted bands can also be added to work on resisted knee extension. Patients following Total Knee Athroplasty, ACL reconstruction, and knee arthroscopy can begin in their early post-operative stages progressing towards full mobility and gaining neuromuscular control. Patients with osteo and rheumatoid arthritis benefit from the repetitive and continuous motion and patients with knee sprains and strains benefit a quicker recovery of motion. The knee slide
is an innovative tool that can be an integral part to a full and functional recovery.
